Wildwood Siberian Huskies

Wildwood's Siberian Husky breeding Program was started in 1975 with the purchase of the Shleekai Kennels of Tok. This kennel was well known for their racing records here in Tok area. Tok hosts one of the three biggest sled dog races in the state of Alaska and has long been on the professional sledog racing circuit. The Shleekai Siberians set several local trail records here during the fifty's and sixty's. After acquiring this kennel I added the well known Seppala dogs that includes rare Russian bloodlines to form my own strain of A.K.C. siberians. I have selected these dogs for their ability in harness, good conformation and trainability. I now get a fifty percent lead dog ability in this line. They have great attitude and lots of power. Their love of running makes them easily trained in harness. They are not resentful and should be very desirable to anyone interested in dog mushing, Alaska's state sport. While they should be excellent for the serious dog driver they will make easily trained recreational dogs for sled or skijoring and and make hardy pack dogs .I have found that dogs bred to be working animals are sounder, have better temperament and are more easily trained than those who have not been required to perform a task.

I have selectively bred trained and raced these dogs for many generations, they are consistently capable. For anyone not familiar with this breed it must be kept in mind that they are a big strong dogs with a high energy level, have a high prey drive and need a lot of exercise. While they can be wonderful loving pets you should be seriously interested in working with and training your Siberian. It should also be understood that Siberians need always to be safely secured. Their high prey drive and ability to quickly be several miles away in a very few minutes makes it dangerous to let them roam, ever. Being rather wild in some ways, this is part of what makes them is so intriguing so special. While they are very loving they can have their own agenda at times, being very independent. This was a very useful way for sled dogs to be as in the past they were sometimes expected to survive on their own for part of the year. This also makes them pretty contented to be away from human company  but not necissiarily dog company for part of their day without feeling as traumatized as other breeds might. With a secure enclosure and proper exercise they are happy. They are clean, being easily housebroken and are very regal in their bearing.

I will have only a few Siberian puppies each year but will occasionally have young dogs for sale. Please inquire if you are interested in a  puppy or a dog started in harness. 8 week old pups are priced from $500.00.Older and grown dogs vary in price according to age and trainning.

Wildwood Siberian puppies out of Wildwoods Tazzlina dam and Wildwoods Shleechinook sire  are now five months old and while some will be retained here I will sell a few of these pups. They are turning out to be of a very high quality and are grorgous pups.  Price on these pups start at $600.00. All pups and dogs are replacement guaranteed healthy, are A.K.C.registerable and have all first vaccinations and de-wormed. They can be safely shipped by air to you. We appreciate serious inquires.
